Sukhoi/HAL FGFA Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft-Indian Air Force
The Sukhoi/HAL Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) or Perspective Multi-Role Fighter (PMF) is a fifth-Generation fighter being developed by India and Russia.It is basically the variant or derivative project from the PAK FA (T-50 is the prototype) Being developed for the Indian Air Force.The PMF will include a total of 43 improvements over the T-50.There will be two separate prototypes will be developed,mabe by Russia and one separate one by India.Russia’ version is of single seat and India’s Version is of two seat.
Sources said the new fighter will cost Russia and India $6 billion to develop,and India will pay about 35% of the cost.It will take 8-10 years to develop FGFA.It is expected that Sukhoi/HAL FGFA will join Indian Air Force in 2019 as previously it was decided that it will join IAF in 2017 but Indian Ministry of defence (MOD) announced a two-year delay.By August 2014,The united Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has completed the front end engineering design for the FGFA for which a contract has been signed with India’s HAL in 2010.
Indian Air Force wants the Sukhoi FGFA to fulfill its futuristic requirements,across the entire spectrum of warfare from ,low-intensity conflicts and conventional wars to nuclear-weapon delivering capabilities.
The Sukhoi/HAL FGFA will have distinguishing features as it will be more improvised version than fifth generation PAK-FA,its features include stealth technology,composite materials,thrust-vectoring,advanced radars and sensors,and the ability to supercruise(without the use of afterburner).It will also have a greatly reduced radar tacking signature,super-manoeuvrability,supersonic cruising ability,long-range strike and high-endurance air defence capabilities.
The Sukhoi/HAL FGFA Will be capable of a high degree of network centricity.It should be GIMS enabled: it should not only be able to share the tactical pictures but also it will be GIMS (Global information management system) enabled.IF we talking about the Firepower of FGFA it will include a very high degree of accuracy through PGMs(precision-guided munitions).The aircraft should have multi spectral recce and surveillance system-optical,infra-red,laser and radar sensors.
The Sukhoi/HAL FGFA will expected to have a in-flight refuelling capability,through both tankers and in the buddy mode(from another fighter).It should also have special EW(electronic warfare)suites for protection against the entire electromagnetic spectrum threat.The Aircraft will be fitted with next generation of air-to-air,air-to-surface and air-to-ship missiles and incorporates an AESA (active electronically scanned array) radar.The FGFa will be powered by 2 saturn 117 engines(107 KN thrust each,176 Kn in full after burner),developed by NPO Saturn or FGUP MMPP Salyut.
The Sukhoi/HAL FGFA will be armed with weapons of Indian Origins such as Astra,Beyond-visual-range missile (BVR) being developed bu India.Although the aircraft is expected to have compatibility with various other missiles types also.

Performance,Engine and Design
The aircraft will be 19.8m long,4.74 m high and have a wingspan of 13.95m.The crew capacity will be 1-2.It will be powered by 2X NPO Saturn izdeliya 117 (AL-41F1) engines for initial production and izdeliya 30 for later production.The fuel capacity of the FGFA will be 10,300kg.It will have the operational range of 3500 km at subsonic and 1500 km at supersonic and has a maximum speed of Mach 2.3(2440 km/h) and Mach 1.6 (1060 km/h) at Supercruise.
The armaments include 1 X30 mm internal cannon guns with 6 internal harpoints and 6 hardpoints on wings .The FGFA will be incorporated with Sh121 multi functional integrated radio electronic system(MIRES),N079 AESA RADAR and L402 Himalayas ECM suite built by KNIRTI institute.Its avionics also include 101KS Atoll electro-optical suite,101KS-O:Laser-Based counter measures against infrared missiles,101KS-V:IRST for airborne targets,101KS-U:Ultrviolet warning sensors and 10KS-N:Targeting Pod.
