2 Indian Navy Men accused of Sexual harassment by Local women in visit to S.korea
The Indian Warship Visited to the South Korea’s Incheon port with the aim to strengthen military ties. But the goodwill visit of Indian Navy ended up causing deep embarrassment after two of its sailors were accused of sexual harassment by a local woman.
What’s the Matter?
The incident is said to have taken place at a convenience store on the night of October 23 on the same day when stealth frigate INS Sahyadri anchored at the port for casting a shadow on the five-day visit.
The warship is commanded by Captain kunal Singh Rajkumar and the moments become more tensed after the Incheon police launched the investigation on the woman’s complaint about the inappropriate behaviour from the sailors.
No doubt Indian officials cooperate with the investigation but there were fears that this scandal could effect the visit of warship to the deeply conservative country. The matter was resolved on 25 October after the Indian officals’ sincerest apologies and deep regrets to the complainant and her family. Thus allowing the warship’s visit to continue on its scheduled agenda.
Describing the incident as “unfortunate,” the Indian mission said in a statement that neither the Indian Navy nor the Indian government would tolerate such conduct under any circumstances. “Any infringement of conduct codes will be dealt in accordance with the most stringent provision of the Indian Navy law,” the statement said, adding the Indian mission learnt of the incident with “great dismay.”
